Fourth man remanded in connection with pub murder
A 26-year-old man today became the fourth man remanded in custody charged over a gangland style murder in a pub.
Bernard Hempenstall was charged with shooting dead a drug dealer in the bar on The Coombe, in Dublin’s south inner city, just over a year ago.
John Carroll had been socialising in Grumpy Jacks when a gunman walked in and shot him a number of times.
The father-of-three worked as a car salesman and was a suspected drugs trafficker.
Hempenstall, from Park Terrace, The Coombe, appeared before Dublin District Court charged with the murder on February 18 2009.
The Courts Service said Judge Bryan Smyth remanded him in custody to appear before the District Court in Cloverhill again tomorrow.
Three men appeared before Dublin District Court last week charged in connection with the murder.
Damien Johnston, 27, from Crumlin, Peter Kenny, 28, from Rialto and Christopher Zambra, 35, were all charged over the killing last Friday.
