Gardaí hunt for man after taxi hijack

Gardaí are hunting for a man who held a taxi driver at knife point and hijacked his car in a three-hour ordeal overnight.
The armed suspect got into the taxi in Carrick-on-Shannon in Co Leitrim shortly after midnight and demanded to be taken to Limerick after arrving in Roscommon town.
The driver was threatened and eventually let go at Mount Saint Lawrence Cemetery in Limerick at around 3.30am this morning.
The suspect then fled on foot in the direction of Limerick city centre.
He is described as being in his mid-40s, six foot in height, of strong build, with tight dark hair, and was wearing glasses and a three-quarter length jacket.
Gardaí at Roxboro Road in Limerick are appealing for witnesses.
