Gardaí release description of Athlone-shop raiders
A garda investigation is continuing today following yesterday's vicious robbery of a shop in Athlone.
At around 1.30pm yesterday, two men entered a jewellery shop on Mardyke St in the town.
An employee and a customer were both hospitalised after being sprayed with mace spray.
The two raiders made off with an undisclosed amount of jewellery.
Sargeant Cormack Moylan is involved in the investigation. He said that both men were in their late 20s or early 30s.
One was about six feet tall and was wearing a black jacket and trousers and a dark baseball cap. The other was about 5 ft 8in and had blonde hair and was also wearing dark-coloured clothing.
