Man dies in Clare house fire

An elderly man has died following a fire at his home in Co. Clare.

The 86-year-old was discovered at around 10.30am this morning when gardaí were called to the house in the village of Quilty.

The fire service was also sent to the scene but it is believed the fire, which was confined to a bedroom, had extinguished itself.

Gardaí are investigating the cause of the blaze but say they are satisfied it's not suspicious.
