Gormley puts forward proposals for electoral reform
The Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government John Gormley has said the establishment of an Electoral Commission is likely within the life of the current Government.
Mr Gormley is appearing before the Joint Committee on the Constitution this morning and has been putting forward submissions for electoral reform.
The suggestions include extending the vote in Presidential Elections to the Irish living abroad, and extending the vote in local elections to 16 year olds.
