Three Oireachtas members have been referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions, it has been reported.

The three have been reported for failing to disclose documentation on 2009 donations to the Standards in Public Office Commission, which requires that all donations exceeding €634.87 must be disclosed along with a statatory declaration.

According to the Irish Times, three Oireachtas members have failed to return the required information by the January 31 deadline, an offence according the Commision.

The cases of the three, who have yet to be indentified, have now been referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The maximum value of donations which an Oireachtas member or MEP can accept in one calender year, either directly or through an intermedidary, is €2, 539.48.

In 2009, donations with a total value of over €109,000 were disclosed by 20 TDs.
