Industrial action to disrupt passport services

People planning to pick up their passports are being warned that there will be disruption to services due to industrial action.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has said the action will hit public counters in Dublin and Cork tomorrow.

The department said anyone who has already arranged to collect their passport tomorrow must do so before 1pm as a result of industrial action affecting public counters in the passport offices in the cities.

The action today hit phone services but will have a further impact from tomorrow.

As a result, it will not be possible for the offices to accept further applications for collection before 2.30pm on Monday afternoon, but applications or deliveries made by mail or through the Passport Express Service are not affected.

The Department said it is not possible at the moment to guarantee the turnaround time for passport services due to the industrial action and is apologising for the inconvenience.
