New trial date for boxer Collins

Former boxing world champion Steve Collins is to face a retrial later this year at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on a charge of assaulting a bouncer at the National Stadium almost four years ago.

Mr Collins (aged 44) of St Albans, Hertfordshire, England is denying he assaulted 37-year-old Albanian national, Mr Adriatik Vodo, when he was refused entry at the Stadium on June 3, 2006.

Judge Katherine Delahunt set a trial of November 8, 2010 and it is expected to last five days. Mr Collins had been excused attendance for today's mention date.
