FÁS governance 'significantly strengthened'
The Secretary General of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment has said there has been a significant strengthening of governance and accountability at FÁS.
Sean Gorman made the remarks before the Dáil Public Accounts Committee (PAC) this morning. The PAC is inquiring into overspending at the state training agency, including into why €4.7m was spent on foreign travel and €35,000 on tickets to concerts.
Sean Gorman says adequate systems and controls are now in place in FÁS to prevent a repeat of the spending culture uncovered by the Comptroller and Auditor General.
