Green Isle Foods union official to start hunger strike

The six-month dispute at the Green Isle Foods plant in Naas in Co Kildare takes a new twist today.

Union official Jim Wyse is to start a hunger strike following the dismissal of three of his colleagues.

The TEEU says the company has failed to engage in the normal industrial relations processes to find a resolution.

Union spokesman Eamon Devoy says the matter came before the Labour Court last year, and that it recommended the reinstatement of the three workers.
