Fine Gael has selected a 36-year-old county councillor to contest the Donegal South West by-election.

Fine Gael has selected a 36-year-old county councillor to contest the Donegal South West by-election.

Barry O'Neill works as a producer in the RTÉ Sports department and is a member of Donegal County Coucil for the Ballyshannon area.

The seat was left vacant following Pat 'The Cope' Gallagher's successful European Parliament election campaign last June.
