Vomiting bug forces visitor restrictions at several hospitals

Strict visitor restrictions are in place at a number of hospitals across the country due to outbreaks of the vomiting bug.

At Cork's University Hospital and the University Maternity Hospital patients are only allowed one visitor between 7.30pm and 8.30pm, with no children being admitted.

The out patients and emergency departments are not affected.

Elsewhere at St Mary's Hospital in Castleblayney in Co Monaghan, a ban on all visits has been imposed with the exception of visits arranged with hospital staff in emergency cases.
