Man held after firearm recovered in Limerick
A man has been arrested following the recovery of a sub-machinegun and a silencer in a Limerick hotel room last night.
Armed gardaí backed up by officers from the Regional Support Unit raided the room in the Travelodge hotel on the Ennis Road just outside the city at around 10.30pm last night.
The man in his 30s is being held at Roxboro Road Garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act where he can be held for up to three days.
It is understood no ammunition was recovered and investigations are ongoing.
