Four arrested in connection with Dublin killing last year

Four people were being questioned today over the murder of an innocent father-of-two as he tried to stop a gun attack.

A woman, a man and two teenagers are being held by detectives probing the shooting of Wayne Doherty last July.

The 32-year-old was gunned down outside his parents’ house in Oakview Way, Hartstown, west Dublin.

Gardaí believe the fatal shooting was linked to a row at a christening party between a family friend and another man earlier in the day.

A garda spokesman said a woman in her 40s is being detained at Lucan Garda Station while two teenagers, believed to be her sons, are being questioned at Cabra and Ballyfermot Garda Stations.

A man, in his 20s, is being quizzed at Finglas Garda Station.

They can be held for up to three days under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
