Many medicines 40% cheaper from today
The prices of hundreds of common medicines including antibiotics and hypertension pills will be 40% cheaper from today.
The move is the result of a deal between the Government and the drugs industry aimed at reducing costs for the State.
The Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association said the change means patients could save between €3 and €4 for every €10 they spend.
Details of the lower-priced medicines are listed on a new website, www.checkthelist.ie.
