Four people have been killed on the roads in three separate crashes.

A 26-year-old man died when his car crashed and caught fire on the M7 in Co Laois just before 8.20am today and, shortly before 10am today, two vehicles collided at the Slab Road junction at Burt in Co Donegal.

Gardaí have confirmed that two men, one in his 50s and the second in his 20s, were killed in the Donegal crash. The road is closed near the scene.

Gardaí are also appealing for witnesses after man in his 60s was knocked down near Milford in Co Donegal after 8pm last night. He was from the local area.

Meanwhile, one person is in a serious condition following a crash in Kerry.

It is understood a car with two occupants hit a tree some four miles outside Kenmare on the Kenmare to Bantry road this morning.

Both people have been taken to Kerry General Hospital, where one of them is reported to be in a serious condition.
