A packed Central Criminal Court broke into applause and cheering this evening as an unemployed Dublin man was jailed for life for murdering one of his best friends, whom he stabbed through the heart after an argument about prank phone calls.

A packed Central Criminal Court broke into applause and cheering this evening as an unemployed Dublin man was jailed for life for murdering one of his best friends, whom he stabbed through the heart after an argument about prank phone calls.

Martin Toland (aged 34), of Walkinstown Park, stood and shook his head as the jury returned their majority 10-2 verdict, following more than six and a half hours deliberations over two days.
