Gardaí searching for parents of baby found in Carlow

Gardaí are appealing for a couple to contact them after a baby boy was found by a member of the public yesterday afternoon in the Cathedral of the Assumption in Carlow town.

Gardaí are appealing for a couple to contact them after a baby boy was found by a member of the public yesterday afternoon in the Cathedral of the Assumption in Carlow town.

He was sitting in his buggy in the porch of the cathedral.

He is said to be in good health and spent last night in the care of the HSE.

It is understood a couple were heard crying as they left the cathedral.

Gardaí are appealing for them to come forward.

Officers are also in contact with authorities in England as the baby is believed to be the subject of a missing persons investigation there.
