Forty detectives assigned to investigate Cork gangland murder

A team of at least 40 detectives have joined forces in the hunt for the gunman who fatally shot a 41-year-old man Cork on Wednesday.

It was the fifth gun death in Ireland since the start of the year.

Gerard Staunton was shot a number of times as he got into a car outside his Cork home. Gardaí found the burnt-out getaway vehicle some time later.

Detectives are continuing their appeal for information.
