Galway gardaí investigate assault

Gardaí in Galway are investigating an assault in the City last night.

A young woman in her 20s was injured in the incident in Eyre Square just after 3am this morning and taken to University College Hospital Galway for treatment.

A man in his 20s has been arrested for questioning.

He is being held at Mill Street garda station.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
