Gardaí have had a breakthrough in their investigation into the murder of two men in Dublin city centre at the weekend.

Brendan Molyneaux and Paddy Mooney were shot dead last Sunday night in a flat complex off Pearse St.

Gardaí are still questioning three men and a woman in connection with the killings.

Crime correspondent with the Star newspaper Michael O'Toole reports that the suspected gunman in the killings tried to take his own life early yesterday morning. Gardaí rushed into his cell and saved his life.
