Gormley: Demand for water and electric at record levels
The Environment Minister John Gormley has said demand for water and electricity has reached record levels due to the ongoing cold snap.
Cork City Council said it will be reducing water pressure in the evening and at night which may result in intermittent loss of supply in some areas.
Limerick and Clare County Councils have meanwhile set up static standpipes in response to water shortages throughout the counties.
The Minister is appealing to people not to leave taps running as its leading to the shortage of supply in many parts of the country.
He's also asking householders and businesses to conserve water.
