Govt to provide additional €600,000 aid to Sudan

The Government is to make an additional €600,000 in funding available for emergency flood relief in Sudan.

Minister of State for Overseas Development Peter Power said the funding will be channelled through the United Nations’ World Food Programme, which is managing emergency food distribution across many of Sudan’s poorest and most vulnerable communities.

This year the programme will provide more than 650,000 tonnes of food to 6.4 million people in areas including Darfur and Southern Sudan.
