Man dies following Limerick fire

A man has died following a fire at a flat complex in Limerick city.

The fire began at the complex on Cecil Street just before 9pm last night.

The man, in his 30s, suffered serious injuries when he jumped from a window in the building. It is understood he became impaled on a railing.

He later died in hospital.

A woman who was rescued from the complex was also hospitalised suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.

She is said to be in a stable condition this morning.

The area has been sealed off and a full technical examination will take place later in a bid to determine the exact cause of the fire.
