Gardaí continue to question two in connection with Ennis assault

Gardaí are questioning three people in connection with an assault in Co Clare that has left a man fighting for his life in hospital.

The 26-year-old man was attacked close to O'Connell Street in Ennis.

Just before midnight on Saturday the man was assaulted by a group of people in an area know as 'The Height' at the junction of O'Connell Street, Abbey Street and Bank Place in the town.

He sustained serious head injuries and is in a critical condition at Limerick Regional Hospital.

Yesterday, gardaí arrested two men, aged 29 and 22 and a 38-year-old woman.

They are being held at Ennis and Shannon garda stations.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
