Gardaí warn motorists of treacherous roads

Gardaí are advising motorists not to drive unless completely necessary this evening because of treacherous road conditions.

AA Roadwatch is reminding motorists that a car's breaking distance is ten times greater when driving on ice.

Motorists are being advised to avoid making unnecessary trips in Galway with very dangerous conditions around Connemara.

Conditions in Mayo, Roscommon and Leitrim are also bad and the Wicklow and Sally Gaps are impassable.

Conditions in Cork city, Fermoy, Mallow and Bantry are also very dangerous.

There is also some disruption and delays to Bus Eireann services in Kerry, Cork and Limerick because of the weather.
