Post mortem due on Wicklow shallow grave body

A post mortem will be carried out today on human remains found in a shallow grave in Co Wicklow.

The body - discovered on Christmas Eve - is thought to be that of Stephen O'Meara, missing since the summer.

Stephen O'Meara, 26, was last seen when he left his home in Rosehill in Wicklow last August. He told his girlfriend he had to go out but would not be long - he never returned, however.

Last Thursday a body, thought to be Stephen's, was found in a shallow grave in woodland at Ballydonnell near Red Cross in Co Wicklow.

The remains were discovered four days after gardaĂ arrested a man in connection with the disappearance.

That man - aged in his early 20's - is still in garda custody.

A post mortem will be carried out on the body later today, when its thought the remains will be positively identified.
