Dublin carol service to raise money for homeless

Hundreds of people are expected to turn out in Dublin later in support of carol singers raising money for the homeless.

The 24 hour carol-a-thon for Dublin Simon kicks off at midday on Grafton Street.

The Dublin GAA team will be joined by a 60-strong choir.

Lorna Cronnelly of Dublin Simon says people are still very generous when it comes to donating - despite their own difficulties.

"We're quite happy that people are still supporting Simon and they know that the cause is quite close to home," she said.

"People are seeing this issue on the street and they want to help
While things may be tough, it's always worse for others out there."
