SIPTU: Strike-breakers would be 'inappropriate'
SIPTU has described a call for strike-breakers to be brought in in the event of industrial action at semi-State firms as "inappropriate".
The founder of the University of Limerick Dr Ed Walsh has said the Government should hire in agency workers from outside the State if workers at the ESB threaten power supplies.
Their trade union groups have said power outtages are likely if attempts are made to cut their pay.
SIPTU's Willie Noone, who represents semi-State workers at CIE, said Dr Walsh's suggestion would bring industrial relations "back decades".
