The Labour Party says the Government is making major changes to the controversial bank guarantee scheme without proper debate.

The Labour Party says the Government is making major changes to the controversial bank guarantee scheme without proper debate.

The Minister for Finance is seeking approval for the scheme to be extended for periods of three to five years for individual institutions already covered.

As it stands, the scheme will run out at the end of September 2010.
