A teenager has been charged with the murder of a 30-year-old man in Cork.

Shannon Ruby died after being stabbed at a house at Ard Na Greine, Station Road in Blarney on September 26 last.

A previous charge of assault causing serious harm brought against the 17-year-old was today withdrawn at Cork District Court.

Detective Garda Maurice Leahy said the teenager, who can't be named for legal reasons, made no reply after the new charge was read to him.

Judge Con O'Leary remanded him in custody to appear in court again on Friday.
