There has been widespread criticism of the decision by Dublin City Council to issue notice of construction on the controversial incinerator at Poolbeg.

There has been widespread criticism of the decision by Dublin City Council to issue notice of construction on the controversial incinerator at Poolbeg.

Work is due to begin on December 14 despite moves by the Environment Minister John Gormley, who is also a TD for the area, to downsize the planned facility.

The Irish Waste Management Association said the council is "pushing blindly ahead in a desperate attempt to silence criticism of the project".
