ESB to discuss further release of water

The Taoiseach Brian Cowen will see for himself today the devastation caused by flooding in the midlands as the ESB decides on whether to release more water at Parteen Weir.

The Taoiseach Brian Cowen will see for himself today the devastation caused by flooding in the midlands as the ESB decides on whether to release more water at Parteen Weir.

Mr Cowen is set to meet with officials in Westmeath and Offaly, as well as people living through the nightmare.

In County Clare, officials say water levels are even higher this morning than last night.

The Inter-agency group in the midwest is due to meet with the ESB this morning to discuss possible additional releases of water at Parteen Weir.

An announcement from the company about their plans is expected later.
