Man dies in Wicklow stabbing
Detectives are searching for the killer of a shopkeeper stabbed last night during an attempted robbery in Arklow, Co Wicklow.
Father of two John Deasy, who was in his 40's was attacked when he confronted a robber at his cornershop on Coolgreaney road at around 8pm.
It's thought his attacker fled the scene empty-handed.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and fought unsuccessfully for around an hour to save Mr Deasy's life.
The scene is preserved and a full technical examination is being carried out.
Gardaí said they are particularly interested in establishing the identity of a man described as 6 foot 4, wearing a dark jacket who was believed to have been in the area at the time.
They are appealing for anyone who may have been in the St Peter's Place area of Coolgraney Road between 7.30pm and 8pm last night to contact them at Arklow garda or Wicklow garda stations.
