The clean-up is continuing across the south and west of the country after the worst flooding for hundreds of years.

The IFA has said parts of Galway are under water that have never been flooded before.

Galway County council has spent the weekend trying to arrange emergency accommodation for families evacuated from four housing estates in Ballinasloe.

Mayor of Galway Tom McHugh has said the Government will have to provide assistance for those in flood hit areas.

Dr Aidan Nulty of Met Eireann has said further heavy rain is forecast for flood affected areas.
