Call for Nama to use unsold homes for social housing

The Irish Council for Social Housing is calling on the Government to obtain 10,000 unsold homes from National Asset Management Agency (Nama) - for social housing use.

The Irish Council for Social Housing is calling on the Government to obtain 10,000 unsold homes from National Asset Management Agency (Nama) - for social housing use.

The organisation also says land banks - held by Nama - should be used for future social housing needs.

There is currently 56,000 people on waiting lists for social housing.

Executive director of the council Donal McManus says securing vacant properties from Nama will help address the crisis.
