Teachers across the country have voted in favour of industrial action later this month.

Teachers across the country have voted in favour of industrial action later this month.

It means that all schools and third level institutions will close on November 24.

In a joint statement from the three main teacher unions, they say they are taking the action because they cannot sustain any further cutbacks.

General secretary of the Association of Secondary Teachers Ireland John White says teachers do not want to be taking to the picket line - but have been left with no other choice.
