Daly calls for Minister to move on property tax
The chairman of the Taxation Commission says the Minister for Finance should indicate in next month's Budget whether he is prepared to introduce a property tax within the next three years.
Frank Daly says Ireland has a narrow and volatile tax base which was overly reliant on property transactions.
He says the country can only go a few more years without imposing a property tax which is based on ownership and not sales.
Speaking at the ISME conference in Dublin Mr Daly said the finance minister should signal next month that he is going to introduce a property tax.
