Fr Michael Sinnott released
It has been confirmed tonight that Fr Michael Sinnott, an elderly Irish priest held captive by a kidnap gang in the Philippines, has been released.
The Irish Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Fr Sinnott has been freed.
The missionary was abducted from his gated compound in Pagadian City on the island of Mindanao on October 11.
Fr Sinnott - A Columban Missionary originally from Wexford was taken hostage by armed gunmen in Pagadian city on October 11th.
The 79 year old - who has a heart condition - appeared in a video pleading for his release almost a fortnight ago.
His kidnappers were demanding $2m (€1.3m) for his release.
It is not yet clear if a ransom was paid.
