Colleges becoming commercialised, say lecturers
The Irish Federation of University Teachers is expressing concern that universities here are becoming too commercialised.
The group says lecturers are being chosen more for their fundraising skills than their teaching abilities.
It also says funding from the private sector can lead to a conflict of interests in colleges.
General Secretary Mike Jennings says more and more universities are being forced to rely on corporate funding and that is bad news for students.
