Death of 92-year-old being treated as suspicious

Gardaí say they are treating as suspicious the death of a 92-year-old man found at his Co Limerick home on Friday.

The body of James Mulqueen was discovered at his home at Balymackeery, Kilcolman in Ardagh near Newcastle West last Friday.

Gardaí say there was no sign of a forced entry to the house and it was initially thought Mr. Mulqueen had died of natural causes but following a post mortem conducted yesterday they are now treating his death as suspicious.

The 92-year-old lived alone in the house which has been sealed off for technical examination.

Gardaí are seeking the assistance of anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area between 10am on Thursday morning and 10.30am Friday morning.
