Waterford bridge to open months ahead of schedule
Ireland's longest cable-stayed bridge is due to be officially opened to traffic in Waterford city today.
The structure over the river Suir is 465 metres long and is designed to take traffic away from the city centre.
It has cost more than €500m to build, but has been completed 10 months ahead of schedule.
The bridge is part of a bypass of Waterford that is expected to cut traffic in the city by about one-third.
