O2 venue aims to stop 'Disney on Ice' in Citywest
An action by the owners of Dublin's O2 venue aimed at preventing the Convention Centre at the Citywest Hotel complex from hosting the 'Disney on Ice' show has commenced before the High Court.
Amphitheatre Ireland Ltd, which is the owner and operator of the Dublin venue O2 at North Quay, Dublin formerly known as the Point has brought an action against HSS Developments, trading as Mansfield Group, Keating Park, Rathcoole Co Dublin.
In judicial review proceedings, before Mr Justice John Hedigan today, Amphitheatre Ireland Ltd has claimed that by intending to host the Disney on Ice show, next December and January, HSS is a breach of the terms of the planning permission granted to the Convention Centre.
The Mansfield group deny the claims. They have argue that they are full compliant with the terms of the centre's planning permission and that the claims made by the O2 are for commercial reasons.
In its action Amphitheatre Ireland Ltd is seeking a number of court orders including the prohibition of the use of the Convention Centre for the hosting or any such entertainment show or event.
It is also seeking orders stopping the use of centre from anything other than the terms of the planning permission granted by An Bord Pleanala.
The case continues.
