Martin admits expenses controversy is damaging

Foreign Affairs Minister Micheal Martin has admitted that the controversy surrounding the expenses regime for politicians is damaging to the political system.

It emerged this morning that the chair of the Houses of the Oireachtas Commission’s audit committee tendered his resignation during the summer because politicians were ignoring his reform proposals.
