Ceann Comhairle John O'Donoghue has announced that he is to step down from his position.

Amid the controversy surrounding his expenses as minister and Ceann Comhairle, the former Minister for Arts, Sports and Tourism has bowed to pressure and will officially tender his resignation next week.
