Gardaí arrest two people after Galway hit-and-run

Gardaí are investigating a hit-and-run incident in Co Galway in which a young man was killed.

The incident happened at approximately 2.45am today near Paddy's Cross on the Moycullen to Barna Road.

The 19-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 4am.

His body remains at the scene and the State Pathologist is due to arrive to carry out a preliminary post mortem exam.

Gardaí have arrested two men, a 21-year-old and a minor, in connection with the incident.

They are being questioned at Millstreet garda station.

The road remains closed this morning and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who might have witnessed the incident to contact them.
