Teen slashed in face during afternoon on main Cork street
A teenager was slashed in the face in Cork city centre in broad daylight, it has emerged.
The incident happened on the city's main street, St Patrick's Street, at around 1.30pm yesterday when the teenager was approached by another male and punched in the face.
Gardaí believe the attacker had a sharp weapon in his hand as the victim suffered a slash wound to his mouth area.
He was treated in hospital and received a number of stitches, before being discharged again.
Gardaí have examined CCTV footage and are now following a definite line of enquiry. It is understood the two were known to each other.
The incident is the fifth involving sharp weapons in Cork city and county since last Friday.
