Controlled explosion carried out on hoax device

The Army Bomb Disposal unit has carried out a controlled explosion on a hoax device found in the Crumlin area of Dublin last night.

The Army Bomb Disposal unit has carried out a controlled explosion on a hoax device found in the Crumlin area of Dublin last night.

The suspect device was discovered in the Sundrive Road area at around 8pm.

The scene was sealed off and the army decided to carry out a controlled explosion before declaring the alert a hoax.

The remains of the device were later taken away for forensic examination.
