A leading concrete firm says it eventually plans to have 170 people working at a new facility that is being officially opened in Co Meath today.

The Kilsaran Group has invested €30m in the Dunboyne plant, which includes a factory, showrooms and landscaped gardens.

The company is branching out into paving following a decline in its traditional construction-related business.

The new investment has saved 60 jobs within the group and another 60 workers have also been hired to work at the Dunboyne facility.

Kilsaran says it also plans to hire a further 50 employees at the plant over the next 12 to 18 months.
