A prison inspector tonight called for capacity at Mountjoy Prison to be cut to 540 amid renewed fears someone will be killed or injured due to chronic overcrowding.

A report found living conditions were inhuman and degrading with inmates forced to eat meals beside buckets used as toilets in shared cells before slopping out.
